I searched the body shame on Giphy’s official website. Then the emojis obtained, most of the animations are white, young women. What I want to say is that, first of all, most of the audiences of the Giphy website are from Western countries, so it is normal for the emojis to be mostly white. However, most of the people who are worthy of attention, the people who pay attention to the shame of the body are mostly women. In other words, women suffer more body shame than men, so the female group will pay more attention to this issue. This also reflects the society’s stereotypes about female body shape management. It seems that young women should manage their body shape well, while men have no worries in this regard. Considering the spread and accessibility of emoticons, this type of emoticon transmission will aggravate women’s body anxiety and the probability of suffering from anorexia nervosa.
